The quality of sleep is important not only for humans but also for our four-legged friends. Depending on their age and activity level, dogs may need to rest for several hours throughout the day. A comfortable bed will allow your dog to sleep soundly and provide a peaceful place to relax. However, it can sometimes happen that your dog refuses to use their new bed.

How can you teach your dog to sleep on their new bed?

We present a few tried and tested methods, as well as helpful tips.

• A key aspect is choosing an attractive location for the bed – place it in a quiet, peaceful spot where your dog enjoys spending time and feels safe, while also keeping it close to their owners.

• Create a welcoming atmosphere around the new bed – introduce it to your dog with enthusiasm and place their favorite toys on it, so they have something familiar and comforting nearby.

• Encourage your dog to get on the bed using treats – place the treats on the bed to motivate them to hop on.

• Use positive reinforcement – every time your dog gets on the bed, reward them with petting, praise, and a treat, so they associate the new bed with positive experiences.

• During playtime, initiate your dog’s interaction with the new bed by tossing their toy onto it.
